More than one year after it initially announced its $35 HDMI media streamer, Google is starting the Chromecast in India. Google made the announcement at its inaugural Great Online Shopping Festival 2014 event.
Google will be providing the device through its own online Play Store, Airtel’s local stores all over India, and retailer Snapdeal. The company has priced the Chromecast at Rs. 2,999 (around $48) which is a bit higher than its $35 selling price in the America. It’ll be available for purchase from December 10.
Google has also partnered with telecom giant Airtel to offer customers cost-effective data bundles for the Chromecast, as well. So, apart from the affordable price, this should serve as another bonus for those looking to purchase the device. Therefore, with 60GB of free data from Airtel over the 90 days, would-be Chromecast customers have a powerful reason to join the Google section.
